When history echoes into the present

History rarely repeats exactly—but the echoes are louder than people expect.

Historical Rhymes explores the patterns that connect past events with the present.

History rarely repeats itself exactly, but it often rhymes. This project examines historical events and compares them with modern situations to see how similar forces appear across time.

Using research and analysis from the Humanity of STEM podcast, topics include leadership decisions, communication breakdowns, misinformation, and social tensions that shaped major historical moments. By exploring these patterns, we begin to see how similar dynamics can appear in different eras.

Understanding history isn’t just about remembering dates. It’s about recognizing patterns that help us understand the world we live in today.

The Mountain Meadows Massacre

The Humanity of STEM explores what happens when human behavior meets systems, history, and decision-making. The podcast looks at historical events, modern challenges, and everyday experiences through the lens of systems thinking and root cause analysis.

Season 1 examines the Mountain Meadows Massacre, asking how communication breakdowns, leadership decisions, fear, and misinformation shaped the outcome. Instead of focusing only on what happened, the goal is to understand why events unfold the way they do.

Because history doesn’t repeat exactly—but it often rhymes.

When the past shows up wearing modern clothes.

History Rhymes explores the moments when the past shows up wearing modern clothes.

History rarely repeats itself exactly, but the patterns behind human decisions often echo across time. In this section, we compare historical events with modern headlines to see how similar forces appear in different eras. From Tudor politics during the reigns of Henry VIII and Elizabeth I to conversations happening in today’s news, we look at how leadership choices, communication breakdowns, fear, and shifting alliances can shape events.

By placing past and present side by side, History Rhymes helps reveal the systems and human behaviors that influence major moments in history. Sometimes the details change, but the underlying patterns remain surprisingly familiar.

Current Events vs Henry VIII and Queen Elizabeth I

The reigns of Henry VIII and Elizabeth I shaped one of the most turbulent periods in English history. Their decisions influenced religion, government authority, and the relationship between leaders and the public. We explore how leadership choices, political pressure, communication strategies, and public trust played critical roles during the Tudor era. By placing those historical moments beside current events in the United States, we can better see how similar forces often appear in different times and places.

The details may change, but the patterns behind power and decision-making can feel surprisingly familiar.
